Our Campuses

The Chandler Campus

At Chandler School, PFS boys in 5th and 6th grade experience engaging, joyful, and academically rich summers designed to build confidence, curiosity, and essential learning skills. Scholars participate in five core academic courses—Computer Science, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science—taught by educators from Pasadena Unified School District and PFS partner schools. Classes emphasize project-based learning, hands-on exploration, and a preview of key academic concepts that provide preparation for the next grade level. The program at Chandler helps Scholars strengthen critical thinking and develop a love of learning in a supportive environment.

PFS at Chandler also prioritizes community-building and whole-child development. In addition to academics, students participate in enrichment courses focused on teamwork, social-emotional learning, music, art, and physical education. Friday afternoons are dedicated to team-building activities, community partnerships, and field trips to Pasadena landmarks such as the Rose Bowl Stadium and Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Over the course of the summer, students form meaningful relationships with peers, educators, interns, and site leaders—creating a strong foundation of belonging, confidence, and academic momentum as they move forward in their PFS journey.

The Westridge Campus

At Westridge School, PFS girls in 5th and 6th grade engage in enriching and empowering summer experiences that nurture academic growth, confidence, and self-expression. Students strengthen skills in math, science, reading, writing, and technology through rigorous, engaging coursework taught by dedicated educators. Equal emphasis is placed on developing the whole child, with intentional support for building confidence, communication skills, and a strong sense of voice in the classroom.

Beyond core academics, students participate in daily physical education and a wide range of afternoon enrichment courses. These include hands-on learning in woodworking, robotics, and engineering design, encouraging creativity and problem-solving. The summer is enhanced by special traditions such as Career Day, Science Olympiad, Pajama Day, and Costume Day, along with field trips to local cultural and community institutions including the Natural History Museum, Descanso Gardens, and the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Through shared learning and collaboration, PFS students at Westridge build strong connections with peers, educators, and mentors—fostering confidence, curiosity, and a lasting sense of community.

The Mayfield Junior Campus

At Mayfield Junior School, PFS Scholars in 7th and 8th grade experience a dynamic, hands-on learning environment that supports both academic growth and personal development during the critical middle school years. This is students’ first PFS experience in a coeducational setting, offering meaningful opportunities to form new relationships and strengthen collaboration skills. Coursework is designed to reinforce prior academic knowledge while introducing more advanced concepts through inquiry, discussion, and project-based learning that encourages independence and critical thinking.

Students deepen their skills across science, history, mathematics, language arts, and technology. Through novels, discussions, and writing projects, students expand vocabulary and communication skills, while math instruction emphasizes applying standards-based content to real-world problems. Technology is integrated across subjects and highlighted in STEM enrichment, where students explore basic coding, game design, and digital media creation. The program at Mayfield Junior also features art, athletics, and field experiences that build community and encourage creativity, risk-taking, and teamwork. Together, these experiences help students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, preparing them for success in high school and beyond.

 The Poly Campus

At Polytechnic School, PFS Scholars (grades 9–13) participate in a rigorous academic program that supports college readiness, career exploration, and personal growth. Students enroll in PUSD-eligible academic courses that allow them to fulfill elective requirements while strengthening skills in math, reading, writing, and critical thinking. As students progress through the program, increased focus is placed on college preparedness through structured college campus visits at each grade level, exposure to the admissions process, and a career speaker series that connects Scholars directly with professionals across a wide range of fields.

A defining feature of the Poly experience is the elective program, in which each student takes a course designed and taught by a college intern under the guidance of a credentialed teacher. These electives reflect the interns’ passions and introduce students to new disciplines and career pathways—from computer programming and photography to spoken word, dance, and lifeguard certification. Interns also serve as near-peer mentors, offering guidance and insight into the college journey.

In addition, Scholars have the opportunity to extend their day at the Poly campus to enroll in college credit–bearing courses through our partnership with Pasadena City College. This unique opportunity allows students to begin earning college credits while still in high school, strengthening academic confidence and accelerating college readiness.

Together, academic rigor, creative exploration, mentorship, college exposure, and early college access create a supportive environment where Scholars gain confidence, clarity, and momentum as they prepare for life after high school.
