At Chandler School, PFS boys in 5th and 6th grade experience engaging, joyful, and academically rich summers designed to build confidence, curiosity, and essential learning skills. Scholars participate in five core academic courses—Computer Science, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science—taught by educators from Pasadena Unified School District and PFS partner schools. Classes emphasize project-based learning, hands-on exploration, and a preview of key academic concepts that provide preparation for the next grade level. The program at Chandler helps Scholars strengthen critical thinking and develop a love of learning in a supportive environment.

PFS at Chandler also prioritizes community-building and whole-child development. In addition to academics, students participate in enrichment courses focused on teamwork, social-emotional learning, music, art, and physical education. Friday afternoons are dedicated to team-building activities, community partnerships, and field trips to Pasadena landmarks such as the Rose Bowl Stadium and Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Over the course of the summer, students form meaningful relationships with peers, educators, interns, and site leaders—creating a strong foundation of belonging, confidence, and academic momentum as they move forward in their PFS journey.
