The Chandler Campus

Chandler Program Highlights

At Chandler School, PFS boys in 5th and 6th grade experience fun, educational, engaging, and memorable summers that help them develop valuable academic and life skills. Students at PFS Chandler engage in five core academic courses that include Computer, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Each course is created and run by an educator from the Pasadena Unified School District or from one of the four independent schools that are part of the PFS program. These daily classes develop both academic curiosity and critical thinking through a variety of activities, project based learning, hands-on learning, and a review of content from the academic school year.

The PFS program is a summer school that also recognizes the importance of community and further developing the whole child. With that mindset, we also provide enrichment courses beyond the core academic classes that focus on teamwork, social emotional learning, music, art, and physical education. Throughout the summer we use our Friday afternoons to engage in team building exercises, further establish partnerships with members of the Pasadena community, or attend field trips to places like the California Science Center or the Norton Simon Museum.

We are proud of the bonds that develop each summer between our students, educators, interns, and PFS site directors. Summers at Chandler allow PFS students to strengthen their academic skills, create lasting bonds with 5th and 6th grade students throughout PUSD, and create a community centered on excellence, a joy of learning, and success!
