Last week both the 6th grade boys at Chandler and the 6th grade girls at Westridge had the opportunity to visit Mayfield Junior School, where they will attend the Partnership! next summer. It was an exciting opportunity to look ahead, and at the same time to reunite with friends from last summer's program. This week there are field trips for all students at Poly. Today, the 9th grade heads to the Norton Simon Museum for a private tour that will involve viewing master works that the students are replicating in their studio art class. The 8th grade will head to the Autry Museum tomorrow, and the 10th grade visits the Museum of Tolerance on Wednesday. It's also a week for college visits for the juniors and seniors. Both grade levels will visit Cal State University Long Beach on Wednesday, and the seniors will spend the night in a dorm at Claremont McKenna College on Thursday. During their visit to CMC, they will learn about all five Claremont Colleges, take a class with a Harvey Mudd professor, practice their interview skills, and best of all eat in the dining hall on campus! This trip is a highlight each summer for our seniors, making college a reality for them and inspiring their thinking about what type of school is the best fit.
At Westridge the girls have two exciting annual events coming up this week. First, on Thursday is the Etiquette Tea, a wonderful event that includes lessons on manners and conversation as well as art appreciation. Then, on Friday students will put their engineering skills to the test on Science Olympiad day.
